Morrie Mullins

Writer, Educator, and Editor

I’m glad you’re here! Please use the links above to get you where you need to go.

Words aren’t just things we use to communicate; they are a source of joy and inspiration. They turn the complicated noise in our heads into something we can share with the world.

My mission is to find new and interesting and exciting ways to use words, and to help others unlock their voices through thoughtful and individualized coaching and consultation.

about me

A little more about who I am, then…

Writer

I write speculative fiction and non-fiction, and have significant academic publishing experience.

Editor

I am meticulous and detail-oriented, but also skilled at looking “big picture” when reviewing written works.

Educator

I have been an academic since 2000, and have worked with hundreds of graduate students – and even more undergraduates!

My students could tell you that when I’m given a chance to write an “about me” page, I sometimes go overboard. I end up with pictures of my dogs, baking projects, happy places (libraries, forests, lakes, museums, conventions… you know, happy places!), baseball cards, Star Wars characters, and random inspirational quotes.

If you’re here, though, you either already know most of that stuff, or I’m in danger of over-sharing. There will be time for over-sharing later. For now, what’s important?

This page exists because the time has come for me to have an actual presence on the internet. To be more than a guy who turns up when you run a handful of specific searches on your search engine of choice. I am a lot of things, but one of the things that I realized relatively recently is that I am, and have always been, a writer. I love words, and I love putting words together to communicate ideas.

Now, I’m a writer who is also an educator, and who sometimes works as an editor, and all of these things are part of the totality of “me.” (How self-important does that sound? “The totality of ‘me'” sounds like a one-season Netflix show. Or, as I like to put it, “A Netflix original.”) And I love teaching, but the thing that has always been part of me, since I was a child, is writing. Storytelling.

Whatever brought you here, welcome! And enjoy.
